Free Dating Sites & Free Communication Weekend

Have you heard? eHarmony, which is a paid dating site – not one of the free dating sites, is offering a “Free Communication Weekend”.

What they have planned to do is offer a free messaging to all their members from today, December 31, 2008 to this coming Sunday, January 4, 2008. Isn’t that lovely? It is but it’s nothing like a free dating site.

Why? Because you will still have to submit your credit card details and eHamony wouldn’t have it any other way. Once you submit your credit card details and January 5th comes around, you’re on the hook. From what I’ve gathered the rate you pay to send someone a message is quite hefty.

From the looks of it, eHarmony is simply catching the vapors of free dating sites. Their membership signups have gone down tremendously over the past few years with the slew of free dating sites popping up all over the net, all over the world.

I have a great idea for eHarmony and the rest of the paid dating sites: why not change your business model and simply start offering free dating services instead of gouging the pockets of people looking for love? You know free dating sites offer the exact same services you do and even though you have fancy commercials with couples sitting on swings sharing ice-cream cones together, our free dating sites produce the same and if not better relationships than you do.

Why? (sorry for the 20 questions) Because free dating sites let you message people a trillion times, all for free. Being able to message someone without checking your credit card statement really gives you the chance to find out of that person you are chatting with is a match, a good or even perfect match!

So I would say free dating sites offer more than the snazzy commercials paid dating sites offer.
